Treasured wedding ring taken by thieves
THIEVES have targeted an elderly woman just days before Christmas, stealing the wedding ring of her late husband.
The 81-year-old was left devastated when she returned from a day out to find her Southampton home had been ransacked by burglars.
The raiders had forced their way in through a window and snatched a number of Christmas presents, which were wrapped and under the tree, ready for her friends and family.
But they also made a search of the house and stole a gold wedding ring, which belonged to her late husband, as well as an 18 carat gold engagement ring containing five white stones and a nine carat gold eternity ring, with white stones around the whole ring, which he had given her.
The pensioner is desperate to get these treasured items back, which hold immense personal value, and officers are appealing for those responsible to return them.
Other items stolen included a Toshiba DVD player and a pocket watch on a silver chain made by Royal London.
